Course Description:

Health is a combination of physical, mental/emotional, and social well-being. The student will become aware of how individuals make daily choices that affect their health, positively or negatively.  People who are health literate are able to understand their options and make wise choices.  In this course the student will learn about the three elements of health – physical, mental/emotional, and social.  They will learn how these elements of health are interconnected and should be kept in balance. The student will learn how heredity, environment, attitude, behavior, media, and technology affect their health.

In this course the student will learn how to take responsibility for their own health. They will learn the definition of risky behavior and its consequences. They will learn the importance of making necessary changes in order to promote their own health as well as the health of others.
