Course Description:

This course is the equivalent to the first semester of ninth-grade English. This course will consist of three main components: grammar, literature, and writing. The grammar portion of this course will briefly review and reinforce previously learned skills and also introduce new ones. The literature component of this course will introduce you to a wide variety of world literature, from classical to contemporary. Finally, the writing segment of this course is designed to help you competently compose short-answer responses, summaries, paragraphs, and multi-paragraph essays.  

As a continuation of English I first semester, the second semester course is equivalent to the second semester of ninth-grade English. This course will consist of three main components: grammar, literature, and writing. The grammar component of this course will briefly review grammar concepts that you should have studied previously and will also introduce new grammar skills. The literature aspect of this course will allow you to analyze a variety of world literature, ranging from classical to contemporary. Finally, the writing segment of this course is designed to help you compose well-constructed short-answer responses, summaries, paragraphs, and multi-paragraph compositions.
