Textbook:

Business English for the Twenty-First Century published by Prentice Hall, 2003  (Author:  Pat Taylor Ellison).  ISBN:  0-13-099275-5.

This course like any business course is designed with a clear objective of increasing knowledge of business communication in order to increase the chances for success.  Topics covered include usage of a dictionary, spelling rules, the parts of speech, rules for punctuation, letter writing forms as well as basic grammar of letter writing.  Students will learn the differences between the informal daily communication between friends and the more formal business communication.  This course will help the student to be a more effective communicator in the business world.
The second semester of Business English is a continuation of working with business letter writing skills.  Students will review the parts of the speech, rules for spelling as well as learn commonly misspelled words. In this semester the student will become familiar with the rules for punctuation.  They will learn formal business letter writing skills: formatting a letter, proper salutation and closing, and addressing an envelope.
