Geometry S1 (#427)


The course is based on the Prentice Hall Geometry textbook (New York Edition, Copyright 2015).  For this course you do not need to purchase a textbook.  With the $35 online fee, you have access to the online textbook while taking the course.

Course Description:

Math 427 is the first semester of Geometry.  This course covers the first 6 chapters of the textbook.  You will begin to learn the tools of Geometry.  Discover the concept of points, lines and planes.  Use these to make segments, angles and polygons.  Measure angles, explore angle pairs and the midpoint and distance formulas in the coordinate plane.  You will learn to use inductive reasoning and proofs to solve problems.  You will learn about parallel and perpendicular lines and the properties of the angles in them.  The course will also explore the congruent triangles, relationships within triangles as well as properties of polygons.  You will explore the different quadrilaterals and their properties.
